For middle school students, finding a place to connect, explore interests, and try something new can make a meaningful difference. Melissa Lupinek, Community Education Program Coordinator in Cambridge-Isanti Schools’ Community Education Department, helps create those opportunities while building relationships with families throughout our community.
That work is earning statewide recognition. The Minnesota Community Education Association selected “C-I Schools All Things Middle School” as a 2026 Project Award winner. The award recognizes outstanding community education initiatives and their impact.
While the award names Cambridge-Isanti Schools, Melissa’s work reflects Community Education’s broader reach. Programs designed for a particular age group can welcome eligible participants from neighboring communities as well. Families do not have to live within district boundaries or have a student enrolled in Cambridge-Isanti Schools to participate in Community Education courses.
Melissa brings care and creativity to middle school programming, helping young people find activities where they can build friendships and develop a sense of belonging. Her ability to connect with families and community partners helps make Community Education a welcoming entry point for learning and recreation beyond the school day.
Thank you, Melissa, for helping youth and families find their place in our community, and congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!
