As another school year comes to a close, summer often brings a different pace to our schools. Students are enjoying a well-deserved break, families are settling into summer routines, and many of our educators are taking time to rest and recharge before another school year begins.
Before looking ahead, it is worth taking a moment to celebrate what our students, staff, families, and community accomplished this year. Across the district, students demonstrated growth in learning, participated in arts, activities, and athletics, served others, and reached important milestones. From classroom achievements to state-level accomplishments, there is much to be proud of. These successes are possible because of the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, and a community that continues to value education and opportunities for young people.
While our buildings may be quieter during the summer months, the work of Cambridge-Isanti Schools continues.
Summer is an important season of reflection, preparation, and improvement. District teams are reviewing student learning data, family feedback, and program outcomes to better understand what is working well, where additional support may be needed, and how we can continue building on the progress made this year. Staff are also planning professional learning, refining programs, and preparing for a successful start to the 2026-27 school year.
At the same time, district leaders continue long-range work related to strategic priorities, facilities, and finances. These efforts help ensure we remain focused not only on the needs of today, but also on the long-term strength and sustainability of our schools.
Summer also remains a season of learning and connection. Our buildings and programs are active with youth enrichment classes, aquatics, driver's education, Adventure Center, ECFE in the Park, Targeted Services, Extended School Year, credit completion, and many other experiences serving learners of all ages. District staff will also be out and about at local events throughout the summer, providing opportunities to connect and celebrate Bluejacket pride.
In addition, several facility improvement projects are underway this summer. With limited available resources, the district continues to focus on priority maintenance needs and projects that support safe, functional learning environments. This includes work such as roof drain repairs, gymnasium improvements, plumbing repairs, site improvements, and other maintenance projects across district buildings. While much of this work happens behind the scenes, it reflects our commitment to responsible stewardship and thoughtful long-term planning.
I am also reminded each summer of the many individuals whose work continues long after the final school bell rings. Custodial and maintenance teams, Community Education staff, office personnel, technology staff, administrators, transportation staff, and many others continue serving students, families, and residents throughout the summer months.
Schools are often measured by what happens during the academic year, but much of the foundation for future success is built during the summer. As we celebrate a successful year and prepare for the next, I encourage you to stay connected with Cambridge-Isanti Schools, participate in programs and events, and take pride in the important work happening across our district. Together, we continue building opportunities for students, strengthening our schools, and investing in a bright future for Bluejackets of all ages.
