Preschool Family Emails

#10 October 7, 2020

C-I Preschool Families,

You may have read the email from Dr. Rudolph yesterday afternoon indicating that the Isanti County COVID case rate has increased and the District may be advised to move to a hybrid learning model for all.

As a reminder, Preschool is already in a hybrid model so no changes are necessary for our students at this time. Preschoolers attend every other day and our classrooms are in pods of no more than 9 students. Students have adjusted well to classrooms, teachers, friends and routines and it is our hope to keep that consistency for them!

If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us!

C-I Preschool Families,

We are happy to share that we have rescheduled our fall school pictures with Interstate Studio! We used Interstate Studio last year and were very pleased with their service. In addition, they have outlined their safety protocol for us. Here is a link to a video they sent outlining their picture day procedures:  https://youtu.be/8IQaLz7LQ98

This year, they won't be giving us paper flyers to be sent home. Instead, they have given us a link specific to Cambridge-Isanti Early Childhood for you to order portraits, which you will find below. You are also welcome to print out the order form and return it in an envelope on picture day. If you are not able to order online or print out an order form, please let us know!

Cambridge-Isanti Preschool

Picture Day is: Nov 4 or Nov 5, 2020
Order Code is: 54119Y
Your link to order is: inter-state.com/flyerentry/54119Y

Thank you!

C-I Preschool Families,

We are off to a great start to our school year! We are learning new routines and adjusting as needed. One of the adjustments we need to make is to our food service plan.

Beginning Monday, October 5th we will no longer be sending home school lunches. Students will still receive a breakfast every school day that we will use for snack. We simply don't have the staff available to leave the classroom, pick up the lunches and get them into backpacks.

There are still some great options to receive food. One is to pick up food bags at a pickup site. Bags are available every day at four locations, at no charge for enrolled students. Please note some of the door locations have changed to accommodate issues like students going to recess. These locations are Isanti Primary School Door 20, Isanti Intermediate School Door 2, Cambridge Middle School just North of the loading dock, and Cambridge-Isanti High School Door 31. These sites will operate Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.

Another option is to sign up for Sheridan Story, which is a free, confidential food program. Once a family registers, a bag of food is sent home in your child's backpack on Thursday or Friday. The link for Sheridan Story is here: Sheridan Electronic Permission.

If these options don't work for you and you are still in need of food, please contact me via email at kgoodmanson@c-ischools.org or by phone at 763-691-6612.

Thank you!

#7 September 18, 2020 to AM FAMILIES

C-I Preschool Families,

You may have heard that the USDA Food Program has been extended until December 31, 2020. What that means is that we will be able to access food from the program for our snack here at school at no cost to you or our program! In addition, your child will be sent home with a bag lunch at the end of the school day, so please check their backpack for it as some items may need refrigeration! If your child goes to Adventure Center after preschool, they will eat their lunch there.

There is no need to register for this program, everyone is automatically enrolled. Again, this program runs through December 31st so we will communicate an alternative plan for snack as we approach this time.

Sheridan Story is another great program that we are able to offer our families. Please see the attached letter with signup link for more information.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Thank you,

Kim Goodmanson

Greetings C-I Preschool Families-

It has been great to meet many of you at our Entrance Days this week! Next week your child will attend one full day of preschool with half of their class. This is the next step in our Preschool Transition Plan and allows students to experience a day of school in a smaller group setting. If you are unsure which day your child is scheduled to attend, please contact their teacher.

Attached you will find a video that shows how drop off and pick up will work. Please watch it with your child and assure them that we are so excited to meet them outside!

Also attached is an informational slide presentation that we normally share at our parent meetings. Please look over the information and let us know if you have any other questions.

We are excited and ready for you!

#4 August 26, 2020

Dear C-I Preschool Families,

As we are getting closer to the start of the school year, more plans are coming together as we work to create an amazing preschool experience, while following the guidelines set before us to keep everyone safe! Here are a few pieces of important information:

1) Entrance Week Plans:

September 17th & 18th - each student and a caregiver will attend a half hour time slot with 2-3 other students to meet your teacher and see the classroom. You will receive an email from Signup.com to reserve your Open House time.

September 21st - 24th - each student will attend one day with half of the class. You will receive a separate email from Signup.com to pick your day. Keep an eye out for both emails as some email programs join "like" messages into one email.

September 28th & 29th are the first days with all of the students!

2) Calendar

We are backing up our start dates one week to give the upper grades time to adjust to their routines. We will make these days up! You will receive a calendar at the beginning of the school year via email or paper by request.

3) Tuition

C-I Preschool tuition is a yearly tuition based on the number of days we have class. We spread these payments out over 9 months, beginning September 1st. When you make a payment on September 1st, you are not paying for the month of September, rather you are paying the first payment of 9 that covers the cost of the school year. As a reminder, if paying tuition is a hardship, please contact us about applying for a scholarship.

As always, let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to seeing you! Go Big Blue!

#3 August 19, 2020

Dear C-I Preschool Families, below you will find more information regarding our Return to Learn plan!

Start and End Times

In an effort to avoid large amounts of congestion outside of the buildings, we have adjusted our preschool start and end times.

The new Preschool start and end times for both locations are:

AM- 8:30-11:15am

PM- 12:30-3:15pm

We are working on a drop off and pick up plan at both locations and will be sharing that with you as the first day of school approaches. The drop off and pick up locations will be outside of the buildings so key fobs and lanyards will not be needed.

Preschool Start Date

To allow the upper grades times to adjust to new schedules and procedures, we are pushing our start date back by one week. We will make up these days throughout the school year, so students will still attend the same number of days. Our entrance days will be September 17 & 18.

Preschool Entrance Plans

Last winter plans were already underway to create a better, developmentally appropriate plan to transition students into preschool. It was decided that rather than a school wide open house we would move to small groups of students coming in half hour time slots, followed by attending one day with just half of the class before attending with the whole class. We are sticking with this plan and are happy that we are able to provide a more comfortable and less overwhelming start to school! You will receive an email by the end of August from Signup.com that will invite you to sign up for your half hour time slot on September 17th or 18th. You will receive information on which day (between September 21st-24th) your child will attend with half of the class closer to that start of school.

As a reminder, all staff will follow the masking requirements of wearing a face covering while in the building. Preschool and ECFE children are not required to wear masks.

As we receive more information and more decisions are made, we will continue to communicate with you. Feel free to reach out with any additional questions or concerns and we will do our best to answer them!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Kim Goodmanson

#2 August 13, 2020

Dear C-I Preschool families,

We are continuing the work of creating our safe return to school! Each component is important and some decisions require waiting until other decisions are in place. Here is what we have been working on:

  • Adjusting our class sizes to reflect 50% capacity in each classroom. Each classroom is a bit different, but the range is 18-24 per room. This includes adults and children.
  • Working to solidify start and end times of preschool. The Transportation department has been working very hard to reroute the K-12 bus schedules. With this comes some slight adjustment of start and end times in many buildings. Once the transportation schedule is finalized, we will be able to finalize our preschool times. We don't anticipate any significant time changes.
  • Working to create a plan for preschool drop off and pick up procedures. We want Early Childhood families to be able to enter, park and exit the building grounds as easily as possible.
  • Looking at open house and entrance plans and dates.

Our current entrance and open house plan for Preschool includes a day where students will come in small groups of 3-4 with a caregiver to meet their teacher and see their classroom. Following this open house format, students will have one day where they attend with half of their classmates and one day where they don't attend as the other half of the class will come. We feel that this scaffolding transition is developmentally appropriate for 3-5 year olds. You will receive information in late August letting you know your scheduled time to meet the teacher and which day your child will attend with half of their classmates.

All adults will be required to wear masks or shields while in the buildings. In accordance with MDH and MDE guidelines, preschool and ECFE children are not required to wear masks at this time.

Please know that much is happening behind the scenes and it is our desire as a program to keep families informed while ensuring we give the most accurate information as possible. As we get more procedures in place we will communicate them to you.

Thank you for your continued support and patience as we work through this! GO BIG BLUE!

Kim

#1 August 4, 2020

Greetings Early Childhood Families,

Thank you for your patience during this time of planning and preparing for the 2020-2021 school year. As you know, Governor Walz released recommendations for Minnesota school districts. Cambridge-Isanti Schools and Community Education Programs are working hard, together, to solidify those plans.

Our goal is to provide you with the most complete plans for Preschool and ECFE shortly after the release of K-12 plans on August 5th, as some of those decisions will impact how we proceed. We are currently working on creating a safe environment for our families so you will have the best early childhood and preschool experience. Along with the K-12 email that will be coming tomorrow you will receive another email next week with details pertaining to Early Childhood.

What we do know is that school supplies will be needed! We will be going to non-shared supplies as much as possible this year. Each child should bring to school:

If you have a Preschool student:

1 - Backpack – large enough to hold folder, notebook & supplies

1 - Sturdy Folder

1 - Notebook

1 - Pencil box (label clearly with child's first & last name)

1 – Fiskars 5” blunt tip child size scissors

1 - 24 count crayons

1 - 8 count washable broad tip markers (classic colors)

1 - 8 or 16 count Skinny Pip Squeak washable markers (optional)

2 - Elmer’s .77oz glue stick

1 - Box of tissues

1 - Container of disinfecting wipes – 75-100 count

1 - Paint shirt (an oversized t-shirt works great!)

If you have an ECFE student (ages 1 & up):

1 - Pencil box to bring with you each week – please label with child’s name

1 - Elmer’s .77 oz Glue Stick

1 - Fiskars 5” blunt tip child size scissors

1 - Box of regular or chunky crayons

1 - Box of tissues

1 - Container of disinfecting wipes

1 - Paint shirt (an oversized t-shirt works great!)

We may ask for supplies to be restocked at some point during the school year. If school supplies create a hardship for your family, please email me at kgoodmanson@c-ischools.org.

Thank you for the grace and patience you are extending during this time. We are looking forward to seeing all of you very soon!

Sincerely,

Kim Goodmanson
