Springing Forward: Welcoming New Bluejackets, Celebrating Partnerships, and Planning for the Future

As we turn the page to April, the signs of spring are all around us—brighter days, renewed energy, and growing excitement across our schools. It’s a season of opportunity and connection, and that energy is certainly felt throughout Cambridge-Isanti Schools.

Celebrating the Class of 2038
This spring, we had the joy of welcoming the Class of 2038 through our Kindergarten Discovery events at Cambridge Primary, Isanti Primary, and C-I STEAM School. These students and their families are taking some of their first steps in a journey that will span the next 13 years—filled with growth, learning, friendships, and memories. It’s a moment full of excitement and pride, not only for the students, but for our entire school community. Their Bluejacket stories will surely include these exciting moments.

At the same time, we’re celebrating the Class of 2025, as many of our seniors prepare for graduation and take their final steps in their journey. On May 16, our Dollars for Scholars Board is hosting the annual Scholarship Award Reception, where seniors meet face-to-face with the community members who are investing in their future. It’s a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community walks alongside its students—from their first day as a Bluejacket, to the moment they cross the graduation stage.

Recognizing Community Support
Our Dollars for Scholars program continues to be a shining example of community support in action. Thanks to the ongoing generosity of our community, this year’s total investment in our Bluejacket graduates will be just shy of $248,000 - another record-breaking year! This year’s Scholarship Reception, where donors meet graduates face-to-face, is a powerful highlight of the school year and a celebration of what makes our community such an incredible place. To date, Dollars for Scholars has awarded over $4.5 million in scholarships, helping countless Bluejacket graduates pursue college and launch careers across every field!

The Bluejacket Education Foundation is also busy planning this year’s Future Fest—an engaging event that raises funds to support students and learning across the district. Tickets are now available, and the Foundation is currently accepting applications for its spring classroom grant cycle. These grants help bring hands-on, innovative learning experiences to life in our classrooms. 

We are grateful to be part of a community that genuinely invests in the success of our students. From organizations that raise funds to individuals who give their time, mentorship, and support—our schools are strengthened each day by their generosity. We’re fortunate to partner with such committed people. This is a special place to live, learn, and grow—and we never take that for granted.

Planning for the Future (Strategic Plan 4.1)
Our Facility Task Force, made up of more than 50 community members, has been meeting since January to help shape a long-range facilities plan. To date, the task force has met six times, toured seven buildings, reviewed enrollment projections, studied building condition data, explored facility concepts, and learned about the district’s financial history and long-term planning. With one more meeting scheduled for this month, we look forward to their final recommendation to the School Board. This work—rooted in our Strategic Plan—is helping us build a thoughtful, community-driven roadmap for the future of Cambridge-Isanti Schools.

As we move into the final stretch of the school year, we remain thankful for the support, pride, and care that defines our community.
