Springing Forward: Celebrating Growth, Strengthening Partnerships, and Preparing for What’s Next

By Dr. Nate Rudolph, Superintendent, Cambridge-Isanti Schools

As we move into April, the signs of spring are beginning to show—longer days, renewed energy, and a strong sense of momentum across our schools. This time of year is always special. It offers both reflection and anticipation as we celebrate how far we’ve come and prepare for what’s ahead.

Welcoming the Class of 2039!
This spring, we are excited to welcome the Class of 2039 through our Kindergarten Welcome events at Cambridge Primary, Isanti Primary, and C-I STEAM School. For many families, kindergarten is an important milestone in each learner’s journey, filled with growth, opportunity, and connection. These early moments matter. They are the first chapter in each student’s story as a Bluejacket, and we are honored to partner with families from the very beginning.

At the same time, we are celebrating the Class of 2026 as they approach graduation. From their first days in our schools to where they stand today, their experience reflects years of effort, support, and opportunity. One of the highlights of the spring will be the Dollars for Scholars Scholarship Reception, scheduled for Friday, May 15, where students connect directly with the community members who are investing in their future. It is a powerful reminder that in Cambridge-Isanti Schools, our students are supported every step of the way.

A Community That Shows Up
Our community continues to demonstrate what it means to truly support public education. Dollars for Scholars will once again provide a significant investment in our graduating seniors, continuing a tradition that has opened doors for thousands of Bluejacket graduates.

The Bluejacket Education Foundation also continues to make a meaningful impact through its classroom grant program, helping bring innovative, hands-on learning experiences to life for our students. These partnerships matter. They expand opportunities, strengthen programming, and reflect a community that believes deeply in its schools.

We see that support in many ways—through volunteers in our classrooms, mentors working with students, and families who stay engaged in their child’s learning. Our schools are stronger because of these connections.

Progress and Planning
This time of year also represents an important transition point in our work. We have successfully closed the second trimester and are now fully engaged in the final stretch of the school year. At the same time, we are actively preparing for 2026–27.

Our Strategic Planning Task Force recently completed its annual review, providing valuable feedback as we build Year 4 of our Strategic Plan. This work continues to be grounded in community voice and focused on what matters most—student growth, strong relationships, well-being, and meaningful opportunities for all learners.

We are also seeing encouraging results in our classrooms. Recent data shows continued academic growth in literacy, particularly at the elementary and middle school levels. This progress reflects the focused efforts of our staff, the support of our families, and the commitment of our students.

In addition, our teams are engaged in thoughtful planning around staffing, programming, and resource alignment to ensure we are well-positioned for the future. This work is intentional and aligned to our long-term priorities.

Looking Ahead
There is a great deal to be proud of in Cambridge-Isanti Schools. From our youngest learners just beginning to our seniors preparing for what comes next, our students are growing, achieving, and finding success in many ways.

As always, this work is not done alone. It is made possible through strong partnerships with our families and community. Thank you for your continued support, engagement, and belief in our schools.
Together, we are not only maintaining a strong system—we are building something exceptional.

GO BIG BLUE!
