Supporting Student Mental Health: Resources for Families

In Cambridge-Isanti Schools, we understand the vital role mental health plays in a student’s overall well-being and academic success. That’s why we are committed to providing families with the tools and support needed to ensure that every student has access to mental health resources. Along with Lighthouse Child & Family Services, one of our partners in making these resources available is the Isanti County Integrated Collaborative (ICIC).

What is the Isanti County Integrated Collaborative?

The Isanti County Integrated Collaborative (ICIC) is a partnership of school districts, local agencies, and community organizations working together to provide comprehensive support services for children, youth, and families in Isanti County. Their mission is to enhance the emotional, social, and behavioral well-being of students through accessible resources and collaborative efforts.

Empowering Students to Seek Help

It’s essential that students know they are not alone in their challenges. We encourage families to talk openly about mental health and reinforce the message that seeking help is a sign of strength. By empowering students to reach out when they need support, we can foster a culture where mental health is prioritized and stigma is reduced.

Mental Health in Our Strategic Plan

In 2022, a dedicated group of 68 parents, staff, and students came together to envision the future of our district. Through thoughtful discussions and collaboration, they shaped a Strategic Plan that updated our mission, core beliefs, and measurable objectives. This plan focuses on four key priorities:

1. Supporting student academic growth and success
2. Strengthening positive, personal relationships with families and the community
3. Enhancing student and staff mental health and well-being
4. Building community partnerships to support district growth

Adopted by the School Board in December 2022, the Strategic Plan places a strong emphasis on mental health as a critical component of student success. Our commitment includes:

• Providing comprehensive mental health education for students, staff, and families.
• Expanding access to mental health professionals within our schools.
• Strengthening community partnerships, like ICIC and Lighthouse?, to enhance available resources.
• Fostering a school culture that promotes self-discipline, respect, and compassion—key traits in supporting mental well-being.
