Bluejacket Brief: The Arts Create Connection and Foster Growth

At Cambridge-Isanti Schools, student growth happens in many ways, and the arts are an important part of that story. Through theatre, music, and visual arts, students build confidence, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills while also finding connection and a sense of belonging.

Out-of-school involvement matters. When students participate in activities beyond the school day, they have additional opportunities to build relationships, develop responsibility, grow in confidence, and become part of something bigger. For many students, the arts provide that space.

Cambridge-Isanti High School’s theatre program is one strong example. Students have opportunities to participate in a fall musical, a competitive one-act play, and a spring three-act production. These experiences help students grow not only as performers, but also as leaders, teammates, problem-solvers, and creative thinkers.

Those opportunities are made even stronger by the Richard G. Hardy Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Cambridge-Isanti High School. The PAC gives students a high-quality space to rehearse, perform, and share their talents with others, while also serving as a gathering place for families and community members.

This spring, students will present My Brother’s Gift, and our music programs will continue to bring students and community members together through performances such as A Cappella Mayhem. Events like these highlight the many ways the arts create meaningful experiences for students while strengthening connection across our schools and community.

The arts leave a lasting impact, helping students grow not only in their skills, but in who they are becoming—ready to contribute, create, and connect in the world beyond high school.
