2023 Strategic Planning Annual Update

In December 2022, our Strategic Planning Team—comprised of students, parents, staff, and community members—presented our Board with new strategic priorities for our district. This year, we are pleased to report that the plan is being implemented, and we are making excellent progress. Across the four strategic priorities, we work in partnership with families and our community, and we are proud to share the following highlights of our progress:

Strategy 1: Ensure Student Academic Growth and Success

  • Strengthening literacy instruction: All elementary teachers are participating in structured literacy and research-aligned reading instruction, including From Phonics to Reading curriculum in grades K-3.

  • Applied for a grant to fund training required by the READ Act.

  • Implementing a new science curriculum and materials to support hands-on learning.

  • Expanded early childhood learning opportunities, including more preschool sections, monthly open gym, and weekly Homeschool drop-in and play.

Strategy 2: Fostering Positive Relationships

  • Ensuring a welcoming and inclusive school community, including staff training and materials.

  • Expanding supports and opportunities for volunteers, including orientation and intentional matching with interest areas.

  • New community partnerships, youth enrichment sponsorships, and C-I Schools “Here to Help.”

  • Reviewing current family engagement strategies and district-wide advisory councils.

Strategy 3: Improving Student and Employee Mental Health and Well-Being.

  • Established the District Mental Health Team that meets monthly.

  • Updating risk assessment and protocols.

  • Supporting positive school culture and climate for Every Student, Every Day: The Bluejacket Way.

  • Enhancing workplace well-being for all staff.

Strategy 4: Partnering to Support the Growth of the District

  • Creating a comprehensive master plan for future facilities and programming.

  • Preparing for a C-I Schools Facilities Study.

  • Expanding partnerships with the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Anoka-Ramsey Community College, the City of Isanti, the City of Cambridge, and Isanti County.

We continue to welcome volunteers to assist with each of these priorities. If you have interest or expertise in any of these areas, please reach out to the Superintendent's Office at 763-689-6202 or email dist-communications@c-ischools.org
