Riverside Academy High School and Junior High Procedures, Rules and Regulations

Academic Information

The academic success of the student is a priority in our programs. The Continual Learning Plan (CLP) is used to set goals in academic, behavior, graduation and personal growth needed to support the student in their completion of credits toward graduation. It is our intention that the time spent at the Riverside Academy Programs are important as each moment adds to the skills, experiences and strategies used throughout life.

Combination Programs

The students' educational opportunities may utilize numerous educational programs and facilities. Students need to abide by the rules and regulations of Cambridge-Isanti Schools and the Riverside Academy School or program of attendance.

Full-Time Status

Students can schedule in seat-based, independent study or a combination of both. Flexible scheduling is an option. Students requiring full-time status for social security, insurance, or any other reason must be scheduled and attending courses equaling 20 hours per week.

Grading

Students will receive a grade for completion of each partial credit (.33cr. = 23 hrs. of completed course work) at the end of the term. The accumulated credits from each term will result in trimester credits. One trimester credit = 70 hours of completed course work. A grade of “CIP” is recorded at the end of a term when a student has not completed the required coursework for the term. All classes weight 50% of students’ grade on attendance and participation.

The Grading Scale used by the Riverside Academy High School and Junior High will be as follows:

Graduation Requirements

Riverside Academy High School students need to fulfill the credit requirements of the school district from which their diploma is being issued. Since graduation requirements vary from school district to school district, it is the student's responsibility to keep a record of credits earned and necessary graduation requirements. Students must also meet all state mandated graduation requirements identified from the resident district.

An advisor will help each student choose appropriate courses and ensure that all required courses are completed. However, the ultimate responsibility for completion of graduation requirements rests with the student and parent. Questions or problems should be referred to an administrator or counselor. Senior students must complete a graduation application form and present a senior portfolio.

Students may be removed from graduation exercises if they fail to complete necessary class(es) or for disciplinary reasons leading up to, and including, the date of graduation.

Repeat Course Procedure

Students may repeat a course to improve their failed grade. It will be based on space availability. The transcript will show the best grade earned in the class. The other entry for the class on the transcript will show RC in the grade column. The RC does not affect GPA calculations. Only one credit will be awarded for the class.
