Elections

Cambridge-Isanti Schools holds even-year elections in conjunction with the state general elections. School board terms are four years long. In 2024, three of the seven board seats will be up for election.

2023 Special School Board Election

Due to a board vacancy, Cambridge-Isanti Schools held a special election on November 7, 2023, to fill the vacancy through the first Monday in January 2025. Candidate filing was open from August 1 through August 15. Three candidates filed for the Special Election. Learn more about THE candidates for School Board.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 7. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Depending on your city or township, voting is open in two polling locations.

Vote by Mail
(Begins September 22)

Step 1: Complete an absentee ballot application or contact Melanie Allen, School Election Clerk at (763)689-6202 or mallen@c-ischools.org to request a mail application.

Step 2: Return your ballot application

  • Bring a paper copy of your ballot application to the Education Services Center (625A Main Street North, Cambridge)
  • Mail a paper copy of your ballot application  to:
    Elections
    625A Main Street North, Cambridge, MN 55008
  • Email it to Melanie Allen, at mallen@c-ischools.org.

Step 3: Once your application has been completed and returned, you will be issued an absentee ballot. You can request it be mailed to you OR you can pick it up from the Education Services Center (District Office), starting Friday, September 22.

Step 4: Your ballot must be returned to the Education Services Center (District Office) by 8 p.m. on Election Day (Tuesday, November 7) - either by mail or dropping it off at the Education Services Center.

District residents may vote early in-person at the District Office/Education Service Center weekdays from September 22 through November 6.

Candidate Information

To file for school board, candidates need to submit their notarized Affidavit of Candidacy paperwork and $2 filing fee to the Cambridge-Isanti Schools’ District Office (625A Main St N, Cambridge, MN 55008) between August 1 and 5:00 PM on August 15. Candidates can come to the District Office Mondays through Fridays from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM (except for August 4) to complete these items in person and have their affidavits notarized. If you choose this option, please bring a form of identification with you. We recommend making an appointment by contacting us at (763)689-6202.
