From January 9-27, 2017, CIS students and staff participated in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Pennies for Patients program, a service-learning program that gives students the unique experience of working together to help raise awareness and funds in honor of thousands of children and adults fighting against blood cancers.
Every three minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer and every 9 minutes someone loses their battle. In the 1960's the 5-year survival rate for children under the age of 20 with ALL (the most common form of leukemia) went from a mere 3% to nearly 90% today! The support of programs like the CIS Pennies for Patients Compassion Project is critical to helping find a cure, and we thank you for helping us in the fight against blood cancers!!
We started with a $2,000 goal... then we raised $3,000... $4,000... $5,000...
And our FINAL GRAND TOTAL was: $6,152.00
Thanks CIS Students and Staff for showing great compassion during our Pennies for Patients Campaign!
