Katrina Boettcher joined more than 7,500 FCCLA student leaders, members and advisers at the Music City Center in Nashville, TN on July 2-6 to participate in the annual FCCLA National Leadership Conference (NLC).
She participated in one of 30 Family and Consumer Sciences related competitive events offered at NLC, including STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events. These events support foundational, leadership and workplace skills in areas such as advocacy, culinary arts and entrepreneurship. Competing with over 4,200 STAR event participants in Nashville, Katrina achieved a gold medal. These are highly competitive events and judges are looking for personal experiences the students have and share with others to grow their community. Katrina did just that. Her goal this year was to help others learn about the challenges disabled people have and how others can help. It was a very moving presentation that required many hours of dedication, resources and research. Katrina worked very hard and her efforts paid off at regions, state and nationals. We are extremely proud of her and her accomplishments!
